CORE12.01 at METEX 2025: Building Bridges in Greek Knowledge Transfer
In November 2025, the conversation around research valorisation in Greece moved to Thessaloniki, where CORE12.01 joined the 2nd Annual Conference of the Hellenic Network of Technology Transfer Offices (METEX). For a project working at the meeting point of research, market, and ecosystem, this was an event worth being in the room for.
METEX brings together the people whose daily work makes commercialisation possible — TTO professionals, intellectual property specialists, innovation managers, and researchers thinking seriously about what happens after the lab. The discussions reflected the practical realities of moving science into use: how to manage IP, structure spin-offs, support early-stage funding, and connect research outputs with real demand.
For CORE12.01, METEX offered a natural setting to deepen visibility within the Greek research community and to exchange ideas with a community whose work shapes the country’s commercialisation landscape. CERTH represented the project at the conference, contributing to side conversations and networking that align closely with CORE12.01’s mission of helping climate-tech researchers connect with the right partners.
CERTH’s Ioannis Kourtidis described the importance of proximity to the TTO community: “TTOs are often the first port of call when a researcher considers entrepreneurship, and the relationships built at events like METEX feed directly into the broader effort to make CORE12.01 visible across Greek research institutions.” As the project moves through its outreach and engagement phases, conversations started in Thessaloniki will continue through more targeted formats — info sessions, applicant briefings, and follow-up exchanges.
By engaging with a community focused on turning research into impact, CORE12.01 strengthens its connection to the people best placed to spot and support the next generation of climate-tech innovators. It also reinforces the project’s wider goal: to bring researchers, industry, civil society, and policymakers into closer dialogue around climate-tech innovation pathways across Europe.
